BUCHANAN, Mich. – Jimmie L. Bransford, 80, Buchanan, died Nov. 3, 2014, at Brentwood of Niles. He was born Dec. 17, 1933, in Argos, to Paul and Bertha Overmyer Bransford. On June 6, 1963, in Greensburg, he married Lois M. Schroeder, who preceded him in death July 20, 2010. After graduating from Webster High School in 1952, he joined the Navy, where he served aboard the USS Toledo until 1956. Upon completion of his service time he enrolled in Grace College and graduated in the 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in education. He worked as a postal clerk at the Niles Post Office until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Moose Lodge 447 and American Legion Post 51, both of Buchanan. He was also a member of the Dry Dockers Association. Surviving is his son, Jeffrey Bransford, Huntington Beach, Calif. A service celebrating his life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Swem Chapel, Buchanan, with Pastor Rob McPherson, First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial is in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan.
