Jewel F. CarpenterBOURBON – Jewel F. Carpenter, age 91, of Bourbon, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in her home.
Jewel was born on Sept. 29, 1931, in Lowell, to Hager and Cassie Salyer Minix. She was a longtime resident of the area and retired from Hart Schaffner Marx Clothing where she worked as a seamstress. She married Roy W. Carpenter on April 17, 1948, and he preceded her in death in 1989. She enjoyed gardening in her spare time.
Jewel will be missed by her daughters, Judy Cole, of Bourbon; Peggy Bause, of Warsaw; several grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren; her stepchildren, Lake Carpenter, Don (Ruth) Carpenter; and her brother, Larry Minix, of North Judson.
Jewel is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Carpenter; her sisters: Ora Grob, Blanch Reynolds; her stepdaughter, Charlene Duncan; her stepdaughter-in-law, Elizabeth Carpenter; and her brothers, J.B. Minix and Junior Minix.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 17 at 11 a.m. in Summit Chapel Cemetery, Bourbon.
