Jennifer Kay Hanish, 45, Akron, passed away at 6:34 a.m. July 18, 2016, in her home. She was born March 24, 1971, in Valparaiso, to John and Dorothy Hoagland Hanish. She was a 1989 graduate of Hebron High School. She was an Akron resident for 16 years, coming from Hebron, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and decorating, socializing and dancing. She was a gifted poet; was non-judgmental and accepting of others; was big-hearted and always willing to help in any way she could; most of all, she loved her family and being a part of family functions. Surviving are her best friend and soul mate of 22 years, Troy Denton, Akron; two sons, Tyler (and companion Tori Furnivall) Hanish, Rochester, and Cody Denton, at home; a daughter, Angela Denton, at home; three grandchildren, Johnathan and Adrien Hanish and Cayden Furnivall; her parents, John and Dorothy “Dottie” Hanish, Beaver Dam; a father-in-law, David Denton, Hebron; five sisters: Sharon Prentice, Hobart; Roxanne (and spouse Mike) Collins, Fair Oaks; Minnie (and spouse Kevin) Trump, Warsaw; Melinda (and spouse Mark) Opachan, Hawaii; Beth Ann (and spouse Mario) Valtiera, Lowell; three brothers: Ray Hanish, Claypool; Ron Furst, Crown Point; John (and spouse Rhonda) Hanish, Jasonville; maternal grandparents: Russell and Lois Hoagland, Hebron; and paternal grandparents, Chuck and Myrtle Hanish, Schererville. Her life will be celebrated at a gathering beginning at 2 p.m. today in Jennifer and Troy’s home, 405 E. Rochester St., Akron, IN 46910.
