MENTONE – James Temple Cobb Jr., 75, of Lutheran Home, 800 W. Oakton St., Arlington Heights, Ill., and formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa., died at 12:15 p.m. Aug. 3, 2013, in Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Elk Grove Village, Ill. He was born March 9, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to James T. and Norma Wellman Cobb. On June 14, 1964, in Lafayette, he married Lana J. Lane, who died July 2, 2004. He was a professor of chemical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1960, received a master’s degree from Purdue University in 1963, and earned a Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1966. He was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers and First Church of Christ, Scientist, Wilkinsburg, Pa. Surviving are two sons, Christopher (and spouse Catherine) Pellegrino, South Bend; Kendall Cobb, Chicago, Ill.; a grandson, James Louis Bradley Cobb; a sister, Patricia (and spouse Robert C.) Beach, Beverly Hills, Mich; and two brothers, William R. (and spouse Jill) Cobb, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Robert W. (and spouse Sandra) Cobb, Worthington, Ohio. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at King Memorial Home, Mentone. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery.
