James K. “Kenny” Washburn, 64, Claypool, went to be with the Lord at 6:24 a.m. April 14, 2014, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. He was born Feb. 13, 1950, in Monroe, La., to James “Jim” and Margaret Reardon Washburn. He was a 1968 graduate of Warsaw High School and a lifetime of resident of Kosciusko County. He made his home in Claypool on Beaver Dam Lake and affectionately named his home “The Alamo.” He worked many years from the mid ‘70s through the mid ‘80s for REMC as a tree and brush line cleaner, and then for many years from the mid ‘80s through 2005 for Kralis Brothers, Mentone. A lifetime bachelor, he was a meek and humble spirit with a brilliant mind for science and historical events, as well as a boisterous and robust sense of humor. He was quick to offer a lending hand and generous to a fault. Surviving are his sister, Ellen Netherland, Warsaw; four nieces: Kaire Netherland (and spouse Nigel) Morrissey, ROTA Naval Base, Spain; Angela Netherland Johnson, Kenosha, Wis.; and Stacy Netherland (and spouse Matt) Niccum, and Andrea and Hope Netherland Wagner, all of Warsaw; a nephew, Ben Netherland, Warsaw; and 21 great-nieces and nephews. God bless, Uncle Kenny. Go with God. Peace be with you, and above all else, “Remember the Alamo.” A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
