James Fredrick 'Jim' Sisk

James Fredrick “Jim” Sisk, 67, of Syracuse, died at 8:36 p.m. June 15, 2013, in Roudebush Veteran’s Administration Center, Indianapolis.
He was born May 31, 1946, in Warsaw, to Donald Jr. and Marcele Duer Sisk.
He was a 1964 graduate of Warsaw High School, where he played football wearing jersey #21. He was an all-conference player and the team’s captain  his senior year. He was certified by The Carpet and Rug Institute, Louisville, Ky., Dec. 6, 1974.
He enlisted into the U.S. Army Jan. 17, 1966, in Warsaw. SP5 James Fredrick Sisk was honorably discharged at Fort Hood, Texas, Jan. 16, 1968, and was a reservist until Jan. 16, 1972.
He lived most of his life in Warsaw and was an independent carpet layer for 40 years, retiring in 2010.
He was a member of American Legion Post 49 and the Indiana Sheriff’s Association. He was an avid golfer and was named on the National Hole-in-One Registry multiple times. He loved Notre Dame football and enjoyed reading. He liked, and in earlier years was a proud owner of Corvettes. He was a very loving and protective father and grandfather, straight forward, he was a good brother and helped his brother, Dave, with some football techniques in their younger years.
Surviving are a son, Nathan (and spouse Kathleen) Sisk, Avon; a daughter, Malenda (and spouse Derek) Matts, Zephyrhills, Fla.; three grandchildren, Owen, Tyler and Myles; and a brother, David Sisk, Leesburg. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marcele Sisk, who died in May 1973; his father, Donald Sisk Jr., who died Jan. 31, 1999; and a sister, Sue Sisk, who died July 5, 2004.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Dave Hummel of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Military honors will be by members of Warsaw’s American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars  Post 1126.
