Jamee Decio Files Paperwork For Congressional Campaign

ELKHART - Jamee Decio, a Democratic candidate for Indiana’s 2nd District House seat, formally filed paperwork in Indianapolis in her campaign to challenge incumbent Republican Rudy Yakym in the 2026 midterm elections.
Decio, who resides in South Bend, was born in Elkhart, graduated from the University of Notre Dame and Notre Dame Law School and practiced law in Elkhart County as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Elkhart County and in private practice, according to a provided news release. She believes democracy has suffered in the last year because the Republican Congress has ceded their responsibilities under the Constitution to the executive branch, all but dismissing the people of the 2nd District.
“I grew up in a family that gives back,” said Decio. “What I do best is fight for others. I am running to give the people an advocate who will listen and fight for them in Congress, and not bow down to this administration. The duty of a representative is to stand up for the needs of all constituents, regardless of party, not just your donors. The 2nd District deserves someone who fearlessly represents them.”
Along with democracy, she lists the rising costs of living, including food, utilities, housing and health care, and defunding ICE as her top priorities. She strongly believes the U.S. needs to find a pathway for undocumented immigrants, and raise the national minimum wage.
“What occurred in Minneapolis in the last month should terrify every American,” she said. “Dragging people from cars and their homes because of the color of their skin without a warrant is unconstitutional. Shooting and killing innocent protesters is criminal, yet no one has been arrested. This administration intentionally ignores the law and as does the sitting Congressman in the 2nd District. His failure to adhere to the Constitution displays his lack of empathy and concern for America and the American people. Two Americans were killed and he has remained silent. I will not be silent.”
The release states Decio vows to put country and Americans first, not the Trump administration who put themselves before the American people.
