Jacqueline J. ‘Jackie’ Groninger JuddJacqueline J. “Jackie” Groninger Judd, 96, of Warsaw, and formerly of Akron, passed at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
Jackie was born on Aug. 6, 1925, in Akron, to the late Theodore “Ted” and Lucille Leininger Jontz. She was married on Feb. 22, 1946, to Otto L. Groninger; he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1985. She then married, on Nov. 27, 1992, to Charles “Gus” Judd; he also preceded her on Nov. 2, 2011.
She was a 1942 graduate of Akron High School. Jackie was a homemaker and a wonderful mother to her three daughters. She was a longtime member of the Akron United Methodist Church. She was a Girl Scouts leader and a member of the Red Hat Society, as well as a euchre and bridge clubs. She was an excellent seamstress making clothes for the family. She also liked traveling, fishing, swimming and the lake. She loved Akron. Her family roots are very deep in Akron history.
She is survived by her daughters: Debra and husband Lynn Klotz, of Leesburg; Shelly and husband Kim Lewis, of Warsaw; and Peggy and husband Barry Murphy, of Rochester; grandchildren: Monica, Paige, Mike, Abby, Tara, Bailey, Aiden, Angie, Donna, Mark, Travis and Adam; and 26 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Kathy Groninger, of Florida; and brother-in-law, Jim Harris, of Logansport.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Otto and Gus; son-in-law, Don Rich; and a sister, Judy J. Harris.
The memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 21 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron.
A private interment will be in the Akron Cemetery, Akron, alongside her husband Otto.
Memorial visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 21 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
