J. Richard Lapp, 63, of Warsaw, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 22, 2012, in the Veterans Administration Northern Indiana Healthcare System Marion. He was born Sept. 29, 1949, in Lancaster, Pa., to John and Dorothy Metzler Lapp. On June 1, 1979, in Warsaw, he married Marvallene Baldridge, who survives. A Kosciusko County resident, he graduated from Warsaw High School in 1967. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1970-73 as corporal (E-4) with Company A, First Battalion, Eight Marines, Second Marine Division during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home he worked at Uniroyal Inc., Warsaw, for 22 years as an extruder operator and later worked at R.R, Donnelley & Sons, Warsaw, as a hoist operator from 1990 to 2002. He was a member of Community Grace Brethren Church, Warsaw, and American Legion Post 253, North Webster. Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Sue Bencze, Winona Lake, and Kristi Sanchez, Akron; his parents; two brothers, Gary Lapp, San Mateo, Calif., and Dennis (spouse Mary) Lapp, Kearney, Miss.; a sister, Cheryl Spohn, Lancaster, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Kay Lapp, and a great-grandson, Preston. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by members of American Legion Post 253.
