SOUTH WHITLEY - J. Eloise Ulshafer, 89, of South Whitley, died at 8:10 a.m. Dec. 16, 2007, in her residence.
She was born Dec. 23, 1917, near Wilson Lake in Richland Township, Whitley County, to Alvin and Lura Mowrey Sweeney.
She attended Larwill School and graduated from Larwill High School in 1935. In 1938, she moved to South Whitley and was employed by Chamberlin Products for 29 years until they closed in 1979. She was a member of Larwill Methodist Church and South Whitley Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Surviving are five sons: Ed (and spouse Marilyn) Ulshafer, Fort Wayne; Jack (and spouse Kathy), Terry and Tom Ulshafer, all of South Whitley; Ben (and spouse Cindy) Ulshafer, Leesburg; a daughter, Loretta (and spouse Ted) Easterday, South Whitley; a brother, Stuart Sweeney, Alexandria; a sister, Lois Fix, Williamsburg, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley, with the Rev. John Hofer officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
