NORTH WEBSTER – J. Chris Longenecker, 61, North Webster, passed away at 6:15 p.m. June 9, 2016, at I.U. Goshen Hospital.
He was born Dec. 19, 1954, in New Castle, to Jerald Joe and Norma Elois Bales Longenecker. On Dec. 12, 1987, in Syracuse, he married Melissa L. “Missy” Roberts, who survives in North Webster.
He lived most of his life in the North Webster area and graduated in 1973 from Wawasee High School, Syracuse. He was a United States veteran of the Air National Guard. He was employed at CFS, Milford, for five years as tender truck driver. He formerly worked at Wawasee Community School Corp. as the Wawasee Middle School custodian and at South Shore and Maxwelton Golf Clubs, Syracuse, for several years.
He was a member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster, and the North Webster Ski Bees and formerly attended the United Methodist Church in Syracuse and North Webster.
Also surviving are his parents, Joe and Norma Longenecker, North Webster; a sister, Jennifer (and spouse Ken) Miller, Anderson; a brother, Jay (and spouse Patty) Longenecker, Noblesville; his father- and mother-in-law, Dick and Sandy Roberts, North Webster; a brother-in-law, Ray (and spouse Rita) Roberts, Syracuse; and nieces and nephews: Abbey, Bret, Molly, Casey, Cara, Chassitea and Kelsea.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with Pastor Bruce Giggy officiating. Military services also will be conducted by North Webster American Legion Post 253. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
