A Claypool man was apprehended after a motorcycle pursuit in Kosciusko County Friday.
According to an Indiana State Police news release, at approximately 7:20 a.m. Friday, July 31, an ISP trooper was on patrol in Kosciusko County and using his stationary radar. He observed a Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling 26 miles per hour over the posted speed limit. The trooper then attempted to conduct a traffic stop with his emergency lights and siren.
The motorcycle driver then slowed down, conducted a U-turn and sped off at a high rate of speed, the release states. A pursuit was then initiated, and the driver eventually abandoned his motorcycle on the east side of CR 500W near the intersection with CR 900S.
The suspect - eventually identified as Franklin Seeley, 53, Claypool - fled on foot through a nearby corn field.
Law enforcement set up a perimeter where Seeley was eventually found during a K-9 track.
Upon locating the suspect within the cornfield, Seeley was given loud verbal commands and placed in custody without incident, according to the ISP.
Seeley was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail for resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, a level 6 felony; resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor; and driving while suspended with a prior, a class A misdemeanor.
During this incident, the ISP were assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Mentone Police Department.
