Isaac “Ike” Slone, 76, of Warsaw, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 1:15 p.m. Feb. 7, 2013, in Parkview North Hospital, Fort Wayne, surrounded by his family. He was born March 26, 1936, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Adam and Julie Haywood Slone, who preceded him in death. On March 7, 1953, in Prestonsburg, he married Colleen Wilson, who survives in Warsaw, after 59 years of marriage. Living most of his life in Warsaw, he worked for Kimble Glass, Warsaw, as a machine operator for 36 years. He was a member of Warsaw Family Worship Center. He never knew a stranger. He was a great story teller and could draw everyone’s attention. He loved sitting on the porch in his lawn chair and waiving to everyone who passed by. He enjoyed playing pool, going fishing, taking his dog for car rides and being surrounded by his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and a large group of friends and acquaintances. Also surviving are four children, John Slone, Diane Hurt (and fiance Donald Dugan), Donna Brett (and fiance Steve Burke), all of Warsaw, and Mark Slone, Pierceton; three sisters: Ethel Harmon (and companion Ray), Churubusco; Edith Stumbo, Prestonsburg, Ky.; and Ruby (and spouse Richard) Krebs, Warsaw; four brothers: Kenton (and spouse Bonnie) Slone and Adam (and spouse Kathy) Slone Jr., all of Warsaw; Wendell (and spouse Brenda) Slone, Etna Green; and Irvin Slone, Prestonsburg, Ky.; six grandchildren: Jason Slone (and companion Beth) and Kevin Slone (and fiance Nicky), all of Pierceton; Sara (and spouse Christopher) Yarber, Bourbon; Ryan Slone, Warsaw; Justin and Travis Hurt, both of Grambrills, Mass.; four great-grandchildren: Gwendolyn Page, Serenity Slone, Allison Yarber and Isaac Joseph Slone; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton and Fred Slone. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Celebrations United Methodist Church, Winona Lake, with Pastor William Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
