The actions of our Congress and Senate bickering over the funding for our troops and demanding a withdrawal timetable has been a moral victory for the terrorists, in my opinion. I believe that many sides of the political realm refuse to acknowledge or accept the fact that this war on terror is real. Instead, our elected officials have preoccupied themselves with aimless attempts to discredit President Bush and his administration while terrorists wreak havoc all over the world.
If the United States and its allies are to win this war on terror, we must change our attitude, our approach and strategy. I strongly believe that force alone is the only solution that these terrorists understand. It is time that we send a strong message of force to Iran and Syria. Both have been identified as contributing factors to the continuing downfall of Iraq, and yet the United States and its allies have failed to act. We have tried the diplomatic route as a solution to end this conflict, but to no avail. Diplomacy and appeasement have only served those who lack the backbone and the will to take a stand against these groups. Diplomacy has allowed Iran more time to continue their work on the atomic bomb. Regrettably, I believe, Iraq is a lost cause. The Iraqi people have proven time and again their unwillingness and inability to fight for their own freedom.
Our government's plan is to continue the diplomatic approach coupled with patience and compassion. All of which have failed miserably and will continue to do so, in my opinion. The world not long ago learned a hard lesson trying the diplomatic and logical reasoning approach with Hitler's regime that costs millions of innocent lives. I believe that one cannot reason with a culture such as Islam that has been brainwashed by a perverse ideology. How many more innocent people will needlessly die before the world wakes up to the real truth about Islam?
America has sadly lost approximately 3,000-plus brave men and women to the Iraq War. The one factor that the world has failed to acknowledge is that the followers of the Islamic faith have killed approximately 60,000-plus civilians who were followers of the same doctrine. I am still waiting to hear from the Muslim "leadership" in this country as to their thoughts on these senseless killings perpetrated by those who profess to believe the same doctrine of tolerance, love and peace. My question is, can America trust our own Muslim communities? Where is the outrage from the world and other Muslim nations at the senseless murders that have been committed by these followers of Islam?
Right now, the burden is all on the American soldier. Let's stop all the political nonsense, let's stop all the bickering and let's stand and fight! Either we get serious about destroying these terror organizations and those who support such groups, or we can continue living in terror just like we have been since 9/11.
