Illinois Man Faces Molesting ChargesAn Illinois man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly molesting two girls in a Warsaw hotel in late summer 2018.

Joseph Thomas Savarino Jr., 42, Bourbonnais, Ill., was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 5:23 p.m. Wednesday for child molesting with a preliminary bond of $15,250.

Court documents filed Jan. 8 list the charges against him as two counts of child molesting, level 4 felonies.

On Nov. 27, a Bourbonnais police detective spoke with two girls, both under the age of 14. He had learned from a parent that they had been touched inappropriately by Savarino. The parent said the girls had stayed in a Warsaw hotel room and the incident occurred sometime between Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

The detective spoke with one of the girls who said Savarino slept between her and the other girl in the same bed. She said Savarino touched her private parts under her clothing. She said Savarino knew what he was doing because he was looking at her like a “crazy” person, according to court documents. The girl said the touching occurred for about an hour and that when she got home she told her mother what had happened.

The detective spoke with the other girl who said they all slept in the same bed, that Savarino touched her private parts under her clothing.

Savarino told the detective that he had stayed in the motel room with the two girls and they did sleep in the same bed together. Court documents state Savarino said he thought one of the girls was having a dream and that one time she was lying on top of him. He believed that both girls were telling the truth if they were accusing someone else, but not if they were accusing him.

A no contact order was entered Jan. 8.
