Identity Of Monday’s Shooting Victim Confirmed

The identity of Monday’s fatal shooting victim in Suburban Acres in Warsaw was confirmed Wednesday as Damian DeHoyos, 15.
Kosciusko County Coroner Tyler Huffer confirmed DeHoyos as the victim after DeHoyos’ obituary was posted by Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home.
The identity of the other teen involved in the incident, who was detained for reckless homicide, has not yet been released.
In part, the obituary states, “Damian DeHoyos, who departed this life far too soon on Monday, March 23, 2026, leaves behind a devastated community of family and friends who will forever cherish the light he brought into their lives. At just 15 years old, his unexpected passing leaves a lasting legacy of love and memories for his family to hold dear.”
DeHoyos was born May 27, 2010, and was a sophomore at Warsaw Community High School. He enjoyed video games, had a fondness for shoes and had two cats.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 27 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with a service at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28 at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery Warsaw. Memorials to Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County.
According to a previous news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 8 p.m. Monday, March 23, deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the Suburban Acres Mobile Home Park. Upon arrival, officers found a 15-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following initial interviews with several juveniles who were present at the residence at the time of the incident, the release states, another 15-year-old was detained on a preliminary charge of reckless homicide.
During the investigation, authorities recovered a handgun at the scene that was determined to have been reported stolen.
Warsaw Community Schools issued a statement, saying, in part, “Warsaw Community Schools is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our high school students. This is a difficult time for our school community, and our thoughts are with the student’s family and friends.”
Counseling staff was on site and they extended their thanks to Bowen Health for providing additional staff to support students and staff during this time.
The case remains under active investigation. No more information will be released at this time, the release from the KCSO said.
The KCSO was assisted at the scene by the Warsaw Police Department and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
