Idella Mae Kauffman, 88, Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, passed away at 4:20 p.m. May 4, 2014, at Grace Village Health Care. She was born Dec. 5, 1925, in Lagrange County, to William Carl and Ora Idella Updike Sigler. On April 2, 1949, she married Roy Devon Kauffman, who preceded her in death Aug. 8, 1998. She was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 26 years. She was a 1943 graduate of Topeka High School, and had trained as a nurse for two years in South Bend. For many years she worked at the LaGrange County Courthouse as a clerk, and she also worked at the Kosciusko County Historical Society in Warsaw. She was a member of Abundant Life Assembly of God, Warsaw. She enjoyed gardening and visiting shut-ins. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Pat (and spouse Del) Miller, Shipshewana; a son, Tom (and spouse Amy) Kauffman, Toledo, Ohio; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Phyllis (and spouse Bill) Kaser, Ranlo, N.C. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. Services will be at noon Thursday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Ray Hansen officiating. Graveside services will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
