EVANSVILLE – Ida Elisabeth “Bettye” King, 92, Warsaw and formerly of Evansville, passed away Feb. 4, 2014, in Miller’s Manor, Warsaw. She was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Waverly, Ky., to Francis I. and Mary Peak Payne. On Aug. 23, 1952, in Evansville, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, she married James M. King, who preceded her in death. She worked at Servel for 12 years and the Rochester Sentinel for over 24 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose Auxiliary, Veteran of Foreign War Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary and the Lioness of Rochester. She enjoyed bowling, reading, dancing and spending time with her family. Surviving are her daughter, Linda Riley, Warsaw; two sons, Myron King, Knoxville, Tenn., and Marshall King, Palm Coast, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Franklin and David King, two brothers and parents. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 E. Virginia St., Evansville. Burial is in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
