Icy Road Conditions Lead To CollisionTwo Warsaw drivers complained of pain after an early Tuesday morning accident.
The accident occurred at about 3:35 a.m. on CR 150W, 2,500 feet north of CR 300N, in Plain Township, according to information provided by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
Lora Hackworth, 46, Warsaw, complained of some head pain and was cared for by medics, then taken to Parkview of Warsaw.
Raymond Cruz, 51, Warsaw, reported he had some shoulder pain and was cared for by medics, but signed off on any further medical attention.
According to the KCSO narrative, Cruz stated he was southbound in his 1997 Chevrolet pickup on North CR 150W, near the area of West CR 300N. As he approached a 2015 Dodge Ram, driven by Hackworth, Cruz could not stop his pickup in time due to the icy road conditions, the information states. Cruz’s pickup hit Hackworth’s Dodge in the rear bumper, with the impact of his truck into the Dodge causing the Dodge to crash into the utility pole.
Hackworth stated she was southbound on North CR 150W near the area of West CR 300N, according to the narrative. She said she lost control of her Dodge from the icy road conditions and she went off the road. When she got her vehicle back on the road, Cruz’s pickup hit the rear of the Dodge, causing Hackworth’s vehicle to hit a NIPSCO utility pole.
Damage was estimated to both vehicles at $25,000 to $50,000, according to the KCSO report.
