Howard "Bud" Ashley, 84, of 2753 Del Lago Court, Avon Park, Fla., died at 10:20 p.m. March 19, 2007, in his residence.

He was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Pierceton, to Harry A. and Mary F. Houser Ashley. In 1946, he married Mary Elizabeth Huff, who survives.

A lifetime Pierceton and Warsaw resident, he was a fourth-generation funeral director in Kosciusko and retired from McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in 1989. He was a member of Union Congregational Church, Avon Park; American Legion Post 258; Masonic Temple 377 32nd degree Mason; Shriners, Pierceton; and Elks Lodge 802, Warsaw. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the South Pacific in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.

Also surviving are two daughters, Jayne E. Ashley, Winter Haven, Fla., and Joann Gretchell, Indianapolis; and five grandchildren, Karrie, Jamie, Eric, Andrew and Alex.

Services will be at 2 p.m. April 22 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Dr. Howard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.

Calling is one hour prior to the service April 22 at the funeral home.
