NORTH MANCHESTER – Homer L. Fry, 85, of North Manchester, died at 12:45 a.m. Feb. 28, 2013, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
He was born Aug. 24, 1927, in Cass County, to Joseph and Maye Cree Fry. On Sept. 14, 1952, he married Rosetta I. Eller, who survives.
In 1949, he started working in a paint and wallpaper store, continueing for 16 years. From 1965-90, he was a switching equipment technician for Indiana Bell Telephone Co., now AT&T. He was a member of Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren. In 1990, he and Rosetta went to Brethren Volunteer Service for more than two years, first to San Antonio, Texas, and later to Fairfield, Pa. He served on the board of Weekday Religious Education of Cass County and worked in child care at disaster scenes from 1988-2004 as a service of the Church of the Brethren.  He was a Timbercrest volunteer, working in the gift shop, driving residents to medical appointments and serving as a Stephen Minister. He was a lifetime member of Friends of Timbercrest.
Surviving are two sons, Ken (and spouse Dotty) Fry, Wabash, and Mike (and spouse Sharon) Fry, Eaton; a daughter, Cindy (and spouse James) Ritter, near Muncie; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and a grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren with Pastors Kelly Beutler and Erin Huiras officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Timbercrest Chapel and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
