A U.S. history lesson: On May 25, 1787, a Constitutional Convention met in Philadelphia.
Seventy-eight delegates from the 13 states were invited, only 55 arrived. Rhode Island boycotted the meeting, as did Patrick Henry, who said he "smelt a rat."
The eloquent Alexander Hamilton wanted a monarchy-type government, and George Washington as king. Washington vigorously objected to both ideas, and the delegates denied further discussion.
Hamilton left in a huff but returned later and became a solid supporter of the new republic.
All 55 delegates were Christian, most were Protestant (Methodists, Presbyterians, Anglicans) with a few Roman Catholics and Quakers. Absolutely no adherents to Judaism or Islam.
We were, we are, and, we will always be a Christian nation. We will welcome, protect and defend all others their right(s) to worship whom, and how, they wish. But we will not accept any attempts to corrupt or compromise our faith.
At no time, place or circumstance will any U.S. citizen, in this nation, be subjected to the laws of Islam - Sharid.
There is no separation of state and church. There is no state church.
Men and women, of all faiths, including Judaic and Islamic, serve our armed forces' spiritual needs.
They are soldiers, sailors and airmen and they are paid by the taxpayer through the government.
Both chambers of the Congress open with a prayer given by a chaplain, paid by the taxpayers via the government.
The U.S. Supreme Court opens each session with "God Save This Honorable Court and The United States of America."
Finally, there is no reason for any citizen of this republic to refuse to salute, respect or recognize our beautiful flag. The flag of the U.S. is the visible sign of your Constitutional rights.
To disrespect the flag is to give up your rights.
Just a thought: For Tom Metzger, a former grand dragon of the Ku Klux Klan, to refer to anyone, or any group as "racist" is to pound another nail in the coffin of his changes to represent this district in Congress. Represent me? His candidacy is a joke in poor taste.
