High winds caused issues throughout northern Indiana Friday, from fallen trees and power outages to semis being blown off the road.
Strong winds blew a southbound semi tractor-trailer across Ind. 15, south of Silver Lake, and into a ditch on the northbound side of the road Friday morning, according to information from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver was taken to Parkview Wabash for cuts and a possible fractured arm. No further information on that accident was available as of press time Friday.
If anyone has experienced home or business damage due to the high winds Friday, email a brief description and photo(s) with your name, address and contact number to email@kosciusko.in.gov. Kosciusko County Emergency Management Agency needs this documentation for any potential emergency declaration, if damages rise to that level.
A news release from the Indiana State Police around 12:30 p.m. Friday said the ISP Fort Wayne Post was responding to multiple crash scenes throughout the district caused by extremely high winds moving through the area. Several semi tractor-trailers had been blown over at various locations, resulting in slowed or restricted traffic in those affected zones.
As of the news release, there were traffic slow downs at I-69 south of Fort Wayne in Huntington County near the 289 mile marker just north of Markle; on U.S. 30 in Allen County, near the Ohio state line; and on U.S. 33 in Noble County south of U.S. 6.
