Where is "My Man Mitch" or State Rep. Dave Wolkins? Why aren't they speaking out on the "high tax" situation in Warsaw or Kosciusko County? Namely, for the people living on Winona Lake. Our property taxes increased 97.3 percent, and some of our neighbors went up over 100 percent. We were told to expect maybe a 24 percent increase.
We read and hear about reassessments in several areas. There has been no mention of Warsaw or Kosciusko County being reassessed.
The entire tax situation needs many changes. We have paid property taxes for 43 years. We firmly believe seniors (65 or older) on fixed income should not have to pay a school tax. One buys a property and the moment any improvements are made, guess what? High taxes. There is no incentive to keep properties well maintained.
With all the industry in Warsaw, it seems the property tax burden should be spread to include commercial property, property owners and renters all paying their fair share.
