Valley’s Brouyette Medalist; Warriors Boys Golf Beats Vikings

SYRACUSE – Wawasee had three members of its boys golf team break 40, leading to a 154-197 win over visiting Tippecanoe Valley in a non-conference match at Wawasee Golf Club Wednesday.

Zach Leedy paced the Warriors with a 37, followed by Dillon Drake at 38 and Evan Dippon at 39. Victory Tayagua posted a 40, Jared Krugman a 44 and Tyler Bosstick a 46 for Wawasee.

Cade Brouyette of Valley was the medalist with a 35. Other Viking scores were Mason Purvis, 51; Bryce Madeford, 53; Johnny Gonsalez, 58; Billy Gillman, 64; and Gavin Grossman, 67.

Wawasee (7-2) will play at Jimtown today, weather permitting.



Lady Warriors Drop 2 In Northern Lakes Conf. Track

SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s girls track team fell 74.5-57.5 to Northridge and 90-42 to Elkhart Memorial in Northern Lakes Conference action Wednesday at Warrior Field.

Memorial also won 81-51 over Northridge.

Top performers for the Lady Warriors were McKenzie Smith, first in the 300 hurdles; Jada Parzygnot, first in the pole vault and second in the 100 hurdles and long jump;   Nadia Palacios, second in the 800; Sara Pritchard, second in the shot put and discus; Bailey Mayhew, third in the 400; Courtney Cox, third in the 800; and Dylan Kinieczny, third in the 100 hurdles.

The Wawasee 4x800 relay team of Cox, Smith, Emma Ebright and Cameron Kryder also won.

Wawasee will compete in the Goshen Relays on Saturday.



Zebras Edge Vikings

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley got a pair of wins from its doubles teams, but lost 3-2 to Rochester in Three Rivers Conference girls tennis Wednesday.

Valley’s Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley won 6-0, 6-1 over Rochester’s Hannah Houston and Ryli Rouch in a match that laster less than 45 minutes.

The Vikings’ Haley Baker and Kailin Neese were equally impressive winning 6-0, 6-1 over Kim Banie and Molly Conley of Rochester.

For the season, the two doubles teams for Valley have a combined record of 18-4.

Now 6-5, Valley is scheduled to host Whitko today.



NLC-Leading Concord Edges Tigers

Warsaw needed second-set tiebreakers to get wins at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles in its 3-2 loss to Northern Lakes Conference-leading Concord at the Eastlake Tennis and Fitness Club Wednesday.

Rachel Boyle won 6-4, 7-6  (7-5) over visiting Concord’s Lauren Boessler at the No. 3 singles position.  Tigers Amy Herendeen and Maddie Ray won 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) over the Minutemen’s Kelsee O’Dell and Kaylee Price.

The Tigers will play, if necessary, a third indoor match today at Culver Academies.



Wildcats Fall In 5 Innings

ROCHESTER – Whitko committed seven errors in its 10-0, five-inning loss at Rochester in Three Rivers Conference baseball Wednesday.

Whitko is scheduled to travel today to take on Class 2A No. 7 and TRC foe Wabash today.
