Helena ‘Granny’ ElliottHelena “Granny” Elliott, 89, of Leesburg, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.

Helena was born on Jan. 4, 1933, in Waynesburg, Ky., the daughter of Leonard and Margaret “Maggie” Carrier Rice. She was united in marriage on Jan. 29, 1954, to Charles R “Bob” Elliott, who preceded her in May 2000.

She worked as a plant manager for Wrangler Blue Bell in Warsaw until closing in 1976. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.

Helena will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Bobbie (Steve) Hatfield, of Leesburg; siblings, Lloyd (Barbara) Rice and Paul (Brenda) Rice, both of Kentucky; grandchildren: Bryan (Collene) Hatfield, of Fairview Heights, Ill.; Troy (Joan) Hatfield, of Columbia City; and Krista (Sam) Kim, of Warsaw; seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bob Elliott, and her parents, Helena was preceded in passing by three siblings: Jesse T. Rice, Ruby Blanton and Jean Justice.

A visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Funeral services in celebration of Helena’s  life will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral chapel with Pastor Dave Cripe officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
