ELKHART — Helen Schooley, 87, Elkhart, died Jan. 23, 2017, at Elkhart Hospice House. She was born June 9, 1929, in Warsaw, to Stuart A. and Ethel Snyder Thompson. On June 26, 1948, she married Leo G. Schooley in Warsaw. He preceded her in death March 6, 2007. She was a graduate of Warsaw High School. She was a former member of St. John’s UCC. She enjoyed collecting china and glass. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed making her house nice. She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Yoder (spouse Robert), Elkhart; a son, Lanny Schooley, Elkhart; grandchildren, Jennifer and Dan Schooley, San Antonio, Texas, and Joshua Schooley, Elkhart; and a brother, Earl Thompson (spouse Ruby), Claypool. She was preceded by sisters Louise Miller, Marcella Cofer, and Mabel Deitrick; and brothers Roy, Norman, Raymond, Harley, Eddie and Ernest Thompson.
