Helen Marie Wallace, 77, of 11 Fairlane Drive, Warsaw, died Dec. 25, 2008, in Phoenix, Ariz.
She was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Whitley County, to Henry W. and Emelia Dreyer Hollman. On May 30, 1953, she married John Gerald "Jerry" Wallace who died Nov. 21, 2003.
She was a teacher who taught home economics for two years at Whitley County Public Schools, a pre-school director for eight years at Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church and a substitute teacher for six years at Warsaw High School. She was a resident of Kosciusko County since 1955.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Warsaw. She was was the past president of Redeemer Lutheran Church Guild and in the choir. She was also in the Salvation Army Auxiliary, past president to the KCH Auxiliary and PEO Sorority as well as serving as a docent at the Billy Sunday Museum in Winona Lake. She was a 1949 graduate of South Whiltey High School and a 1953 graduate of Purdue University.
Surviving are four sons; John H. (and spouse Sarah) Wallace, Granville, Ohio; David C. Wallace, Chicago, Ill.; Mark R. (and spouse Matina) Wallace, Seattle, Wash.; and Michael S. (and spouse Kristin) Wallace, Fort Atkinson, Wis.; a daughter, Lisa M. Wallace, Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, a sister, Bernice Abbett, Roanoke; and a half-brother, Verlin Kehmeyer, South Whitley. She was preceded in death by a half-sister and two half-brothers.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Warsaw, with Pastor Stuart Floyd officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
