WINONA LAKE – Helen L. Shoemaker, 94, Winona Lake, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Sept. 16, 2014, in Pierceton. She was born March 21, 1920, in Pierceton, to Jacob Gail and Pearl Vonblond Wine. She was married July 27, 1940, in Winona Lake, to Everett L. Shoemaker, who preceded her in death Dec. 14, 2010. She was a homemaker and a member of Winona Lake Presbyterian Church, where she was a Deacon. She was a member of Home Ec. Club 49ers, Winona Lake, and a senior member of the Literary Club. She graduated from Pierceton High School and attended Manchester College. Surviving are two daughters, Janet Hartman, Pierceton, and Patricia (and spouse Allan) Koher, Huntington; three grandchildren, Kathy (and spouse Mike) Leckrone, North Manchester; Bryan Koher, Huntington; and Kevin Hartman, Columbia City; and four great-grandchildren: Chloe and Sophie Leckrone and Jared and Justin Hartman. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, one stepbrother and one stepsister. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Church, formerly known as First Presbyterian Church, Winona Lake, with Pastors Rob Harrison and William Whitaker officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
