MENTONE – Helen L. McSherry, 98, rural Claypool, died at 3:54 a.m. July 22, 2016, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born Sept. 3, 1917, in Elkhart, to Lee and Ellen Mollenhour Hagans. On July 25, 1936, in Fort Wayne, she was married by the Rev. Sholty to Wilbur L. McSherry, who preceded her in death May 17, 2010. She was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Burket High School in 1936. She was a life-long member of the Burket United Methodist Church. She enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, reading, gardening and her embroidery Surviving are two sons, Fred (and spouse Marilyn) McSherry, Burket, and Steve (and spouse Diane) McSherry, Mentone; four grandchildren: Kevin and Keith McSherry, Cindy Hathaway, Stephanie Widmaier; seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Don, Bob and Jack Hagans; and three great-granddaughters. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with Pastors Gary Loy and Sam Carns officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery.
