NAPPANEE - Heather Sue Mattern, 32, of 257 N. Hartman St., Nappanee, died at 4:21 p.m. Nov. 30, 2009, at Ind. 331 and 5th Road in Marshall County from a car-truck accident.

She was born March 18, 1977, in Danville, Ill., to Russell and Lutitia "Tish" Wells McMillan, who survive in Westville, Ill. On May 24, 2003, in Gurnee, Ill., she married Dustin Mattern, who survives.

She was a graduate of Westville High School, Illinois, where she was valedictorian of her class. She earned a bachelor's degree from Olivet University, Kankaee, Ill., and a master's degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. She was a certified physician's assistant at Goshen Family Physicians. She was a member of Nappanee Missionary Church, the Ladies' Bible Study of the church and coached the Upwards Basketball program at church.

Also surviving are two sons, Charles "Charlie" Lawrence and Brennan Lee Mattern, both at home; a brother, Adam McMillan, Westville; grandparents, June Dolores Wells, Tilton, Ill., and Thelma McMillan, Westville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Nappanee Missionary Church with Pastor Dave Engbrecht officiating, assisted by Pastor Justin Lamison. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
