Heart Attack

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

July 12th will be one year since I had a heart attack and went into cardiac arrest. I would like to take this time to ask everyone to become aware of the signs and symptoms of a heart attack. Log on to KCH.com or americanheart.org for a list of these signs and symptoms. If you suspect any of these symptoms, call 911 or go to a hospital as soon as possible.

We are fortunate enough to live in a city and county that is one of the best in the country at providing emergency care for heart attack and cardiac arrest victims. Dr. David Hartman, KCH Chest Pain Center medical director, provides training and support to Multi Township EMS, Warsaw firemen and KCH staff and has built an excellent team for providing care during those critical first few minutes of a heart attack. Because of this quick action and excellent care by all, I am living life today.

A heart attack or cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. In addition to knowing the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, please take the time to know the signs and symptoms of cardiac arrest and to learn CCR, continuous chest compression only CPR.

In closing, please remember to thank our firemen, EMTs, doctors and nurses for their efforts, hours of training and making Kosciusko County one of the best in the country. I know from experience, these professionals are making a difference for all of us.
