Healthcare Changes

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
The healthcare industry is undergoing profound changes driven by technology and the need to reduce costs and improve outcomes.

Health Information Technology is a growing field, and based on these lofty goals, a tremendous workforce shortage is projected, particularly as it relates to skills required to implement and optimize electronic medical record systems. Fortunately, grant funding has been made available to increase the pool of qualified workers.

Individuals with either healthcare or information technology experience can participate in grant-subsidized training, if they enroll in a monthly cohort prior to October. Current students are unemployed, under-employed and career changers, with a variety of skills, i.e., medical assistants, physicians and nurses, IT workers from a variety of industries, Ph.Ds and more.

Please help spread the word about this important program and let’s continue to expand on Indiana’s successes in the health technology industry by building the strongest workforce in the country.
