Health Care

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

There is much in the media about the current health care reform. What to believe is the question. Politicians and the media want to spin things and tell half truths (which are misleading). Do they really think we the American people are gullible and not capable of understanding the health care issues; or, do they just not care about the American people, but care more about their ideological agenda?

Well, here are two Senators who understand, care about the America people, and are trying to explain (expose) how government run health care will really impact the patient (you) and the medical profession. The U.S. Senates only two doctors, John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) and Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma) launched their "Senate Doctors" live, online show on July 8. New shows air every Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m. EST. A Web site was launched so that all Americans could have the opportunity to view the shows at their convenience (http://republican.senate.gov/doctors/). Those interested in the health care debate are asked to submit questions via e-mail (doctors@src.senate.gov) on the Republican Senators Twitter feed (hashtag: #srhc) on the Senate Republicans Facebook Page, and on YouTube. You are encouraged to watch these shows as they provide a doctor's perspective, from two men who are also Senators.

August is an important time for everyone to understand the health care reform issue and the current bill making its way through the House, and the soon-to-come Senate version of the bill. Educate yourself and communicate with your Congressmen and Senators before they reconvene in September. If you do nothing and you end up with health care you don't like, then don't complain, live with it. The only way Congress is going to get it right is if the American people stand up, take an interest and let our Congressional members (House and Senate) know how we feel and what we want. Please take the time to contact Congressman Souder, Senator Lugar and Senator Bayh to express your beliefs. An e-mail or phone call is all it takes; following are their Web-form e-mail addresses and Washington D.C. telephone numbers.
