John R. Hall, chairman of the Rotary Salvation Army day, was honored Friday as chairman emeritus of the event. “John has volunteered for this event for 50 years since joining the club in 1967,” said Ken Locke, Rotarian and community ministries director of the Salvation Army. “He has given to our community in so many different ways. We wanted to make sure that we honored his efforts.” Rotary Salvation Army Day brought in $38,000 this year. The annual event began in 1965, when about $1,000 was collected; Warsaw Rotary says it has collected an estimated $1.2 million for the Salvation Army since then.
