Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County celebrated the dedication of their latest home in Warsaw.
During the dedication, the keys were presented to the family, the home was blessed and attendees had the opportunity to celebrate with Alexis and her kids and tour their new home.
This home marks a milestone, as it was built and funded entirely through Habitat’s annual Women Build, according to a news release from Habitat. More than 235 women volunteers contributed 1,348 hours to bring the home to life, and they raised over $170,000 from hundreds of donors to make the project possible for the family.
Without the support of large sponsors or grants, this effort showcases what can happen when strong women come together to build a stronger community, the release states.
“This year raised seven times more money and had twice the number of volunteers than the previous year, and that just goes to show the power of when women from our community work together,” said Stacy Price, chair of Habitat’s events committee and Habitat board member. “We are so blessed to live in such a generous community.”
Now, Alexis will move into her new home and pay it back with a 0% interest mortgage through Habitat’s Homeownership Program.
Habitat is currently planning another Women Build for 2026 and is looking for team leaders. To support, participate or sign up to lead a Women Build team, email women@kosciuskohabitat.org or call 574-269-4104.
