Grace College To Host ‘Senior Art/Design Portfolio I’ WINONA LAKE – Grace College will showcase the thesis portfolios of 31 art majors in multiple exhibitions on campus this spring.
The first exhibition for the senior art show will take place until Feb. 22 at two locations on the Grace College campus. The first exhibit is at the Morgan Library, 200 Seminary Drive, Winona Lake, and a public reception will be today from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The second exhibit is at Mount Memorial Art Gallery, 808 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, and a public reception will be 7 to 9:30 p.m. today.
“This capstone work demonstrates excellence in achievement for the graduating seniors. It is a joy to see their work and to know that these amazing students already understand the importance of the visual arts and the positive impact that they will have within our society,” said Kim M. Reiff, chair of the department of visual, performing and media arts.
Morgan Library will showcase the work of Chantell Martin, visual communication design and photographic arts; Nathaniel Franklin, visual communication design and media arts; Scott Conrad, visual and media arts; Laura Rothhaar, visual communication design, photographic arts and creative writing; Noah Erickson, video and graphics; Sarah Turek, visual communication design and public relations; and Amberley Johnson, visual art. The exhibit can be visited during Morgan Library regular hours, which are Sunday 2 to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Mount Memorial Art Gallery will showcase the work of students Sierra Klein, digital photography and design; Ellie Triezenberg, visual design and photography; Trista Davis, visual design, studio and photographic arts; Caroline Taylor, visual design and media arts; Isaiah Zeller, visual communication design; Bethany Fast; visual communication design; Jacknesis Collazo-Lopez; photography; and Caroline Mayer, visual communication design. The Mount Memorial exhibit is open Monday through Friday 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays 1 to 4 p.m.
The department’s goal is to equip graduates with the ability to communicate visually, possess professional skills and be able to analyze works from historical and contemporary cultural perspectives. Students learn to demonstrate excellence in creative work that ultimately serves in their calling as artists, Christians and professionals.
