GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Grace women’s golf team collected more hardware at the Maverick Invitational on Tuesday.

The Lady Lancers placed second at Tiara Rado Golf Course, only trailing the host Colorado Mesa. Every other team besides Grace in the field was NCAA Div. II.

Four Lady Lancers finished in the top 10 individually, with both Sydney Abbott and Carolyn Pacocha making the All-Tournament team.

Abbott anchored the lineup with a 78 on both days, claiming third place. Pacocha nabbed fourth place with a 78-79.

Lucy Young was also consistent, shooting 79 each day to take seventh place. Rebecca Hawes (79-81) finished 10th overall.

Anna Marshall rounded out the scoring with a 172.

The Lady Lancers are back in action next Wednesday, hosting the Pure Michigan Invitational at Quail Ridge in Ada, Mich.

MARION - Grace’s men’s tennis team fell for the first time in Crossroads League play on Tuesday.

The Lancers (8-2, 7-1 CL) slipped 4-3 to No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan in a battle for first place in the league standings.

Grace still has a chance to wrap up the No. 2 seed in the conference. The Lancers will host No. 21 Marian on Sept. 24 to determine which team will finish second or third.

The day started well for Grace; the Lancers claimed the doubles’ point after winning two matches.

Max Rozas and Fabricio Galvan pulled out a 7-6 win at No. 2 doubles, and Ramiro Candia and Jacob Gray claimed a 6-4 victory at No. 3.

Rozas also won at No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-1), and Pavle Popovic earned a 6-2, 7-6 win at No. 3. The Wildcats (11-0, 8-0 CL) managed to take the match, however, by winning the remaining four singles’ courts.
