Grabill Man Arrested For Crimes Against ChildA Grabill man was arrested on child exploitation and child pornography charges after recordings of a child dressing and showering were allegedly found on his phone.
Robyn Garcia, 22, Grabill, is charged with three counts of child exploitation, Level 5 felonies; two counts of child pornography, Level 6 felonies; and voyeurism, a Level 6 felony.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 7:50 p.m. Thursday with a $20,250 preliminary bond.
According to the affidavit filed Dec. 17, on Nov. 15 a Warsaw police officer responded to a report of child exploitation. The officer spoke to someone who said the victim said a cell phone was found recording in her closet earlier in the morning while she was getting dressed after taking a shower. The victim provided the phone to the person after the incident to give to law enforcement as evidence.
On Nov. 17, the victim provided a forensic interview at Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center. The victim said on Nov. 15 she had taken a shower and walked into her bedroom. She took her towel off and got dressed in the middle of the bedroom. After getting dressed, she said she went to her closet to start fixing her hair when she noticed a cell phone propped up in her closet. The victim saw the camera was open and the phone was recording a video. The victim said she stopped the video and immediately deleted the video. The victim had knowledge the phone saved the video file in the recently deleted album so she saw the video from that location and deleted the recording from that album.
The victim said she saw a video from Nov. 15 where Garcia was setting the phone up to complete the recording initially and then sees herself in the video, fully nude getting dressed, according to court documents.
The victim said she didn’t have contact with Garcia the rest of the morning, hiding the phone so it couldn’t be found by Garcia and then leaving for school. The victim said once she was at school, Garcia contacted her by text asking her not to report the child exploitation and to return the phone. The victim reported it to school officials.
A Warsaw officer applied for and was granted a search warrant for Garcia’s phone. The officer examined the data gained from the search of the phone, finding a video of the victim in the residence’s bathroom on Nov. 9 using the restroom. In the video file, the victim can be seen pulling her pants and underwear down and using the bathroom. In the video, the victim’s behind was exposed.
A video file created on Nov. 10 showing the victim in the bathroom preparing to shower in state of full nudity was recovered from Garcia’s phone.
A third video created Nov. 10 showing the victim showering in the same bathroom fully nude also was recovered from Garcia’s phone, according to court documents.
The Warsaw officer received copies of the text conversation between Garcia and the victim on Nov. 15. During the text conversation, according to court documents, Garcia asks for the phone to be returned, provided the phone access code to delete any files on the phone and asks the victim not to report the incident.
