Regarding the letter to the editor and the man who no longer believes in God.
God does not always answer our prayers in the ways we wish. He may say, "yes", "no" or "later." His time table is not automatically hooked to our wishes, but His answer is always the best answer for the situation, for He alone knows the future.
Many times God uses people to answer the needs of another believer. This is where we must do our part for God. Were you in attendance regularly at a local church? Did you let "your needs known to the body of believers"? Were other believers unresponsive?
Christians, we need to always be aware of others needs, and be the hands and feet of Jesus.
I personally could not have given you a job, but I could have shown the love of Jesus in other ways if I would have been aware of your needs.
Best wishes in your new job (which God may have provided). I hope that it leads to a permanent one.
Hebrews 11:6 says: "But without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
You have come to my mind quite a bit since I read your letter and I would like to respond on why I believe in God and my Lord Jesus Christ.
(1) I have searched the scriptures and compared them with other historical writings. The scriptures are accurate.
(2) I have seen the evidence in His creation as I study science and God is an awesome creator. No accidental "bang" could bring about the wonders in His creation.
(3) I have seen God and our Lord Jesus work in my personal life as well as my friends. He has worked miracles that I believe only God could bring about.
(4) We are all sinful and need a Savior to have eternal life with Him. I have accepted Jesus Christ as my one and only Savior and I endeavor to be a servant of His while I am here on this earth.
(5) I have the Holy Spirit dwelling in me to help guide me through each day.
