Gladys V. Campbell, 95, died at 3:40 p.m. Aug. 14, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Columbia City.
She was born May 12, 1916, in Kempton, to George T. and Bertha F. Roush Wood. On June 28, 1938, in Goodland, she married John W. Campbell, who died Sept. 8, 1999.
She moved to Grace Village, Winona Lake, from Rochester, in 1992. She was a self-employed beautician. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Rochester, where she was the church organist for many years.
Surviving are a daughter, Jan Gazard, South Africa; a sister, Esther Crowden, Indianapolis; three grandchildren: Christia (and the Rev. Kevin) Whitacre, Columbia City; Ivan Campbell, Eugene, Ore.; and Nicole (and spouse Mike) Debbo, South Africa. She also was preceded in death by a son, Brian Campbell, who died in 2000.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, officiated by Pastor Kevin Whitacre of Corunna United Brethren. No calling is planned.
