AKRON – Geraldine Murphy, 86  of 7642 E. CR 700, Logansport, and formerly of the Akron and Mentone area died at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 20, 2012, in her daughter Sharon’s residence.

She was born Jan. 20, 1926, in Silver Lake, to Arthur and Ruth Kline Bergk. On July 22, 1944, in Wabash, she married Lawrence H. Murphy, who died Feb. 16, 1978. On Feb. 14, 1993, she married James Earl Murphy Sr., who died March 2, 2006.

She was a homemaker and loved gardening, crocheting, cooking, going to garage sales and all kinds of music.

Surviving are two daughters, Charlotte Sue (and spouse Al W.) Buttice, Camden, and Sharon A. (and spouse John) Hughes, Logansport; two stepsons, Bill “Buck” (and spouse Cathy) Murphy and Jim (and spouse Judy Murphy; a stepdaughter, Alice (and spouse Max Helvey; three grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur Bergk, Wabash, and Hughie Lieby, Peru; and a sister, Polly Arwood, Mishawaka. She was preceded in death by a grandson,  Ron Buttice; two brothers, Roy and Edward Bergk; a sister, Irene Woodward; an infant sibling; and two stepsons, Mac and Ben Murphy.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 24, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Thomas Craig officiating. Burial will be in  South Pleasant Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
