HOBART - George W. Ginter, 83, of Las Vegas, Nev., and formerly a longtime Hobart resident, passed away July 7, 2009, at St. Mary Medical Center, Hobart.
He married Joyce Rouse, who died July 1, 2003. On July 4, 2005, he married Barbara Brown, who survives.
He was a real estate pioneer. He and his wife, Joyce, started Ginter Realty in their home on Lake Street in 1967. In 1970, they moved the growing business to downtown Hobart where it is still a family-operated business today. George was a World War II veteran and served as a front gunner in the Army Air Corps. A man of many interests, he served as president of the Hobart Chamber of Commerce and the Realtor Association, and was a proud member of the Shriners. He loved to be surrounded by his family and enjoyed traveling and gold mining. He retired to Las Vegas in 1990.
Also surviving are his children: Peggy Wilson, Polly (and spouse Denny) Koesters, Clifton Adelman, Mark Adelman, Carrie Adelman Ledyard, Steve Brown, Gary (and spouse Melinda) Brown, Nancy (and spouse Greg) Nicholls and Janet (and spouse Brian) Snedecor; grandchildren: Laura (and spouse Dan) Walstra, Ashlee, Anna and Clifton Adelman, Luke and Daniel Ledyard, Steve, Angelique, Eric and Kyle Brown, Jessica and Erin Brown, Nicole, Megan, Jennifer and Mathew Nicholls, Ryan (and spouse Brienne) and Brianna and Brooke Snedecor; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Debi (and spouse Hugh) Mendenhall; a brother-in-law, James (and spouse Patty) Rouse; and a special nephew, Byron Ginter.
In fulfillment of his wishes, funeral services will be private.
There will be no visitation.
