AKRON - George D. Workman, 85, of Heritage Pointe, Warren, and formerly of Beaver Dam Lake, Claypool, died at 8:15 a.m. June 7, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Bartholomew County, Southern Indiana, to M. and Tillie Stephenson Workman. On Oct. 30, 1948, in Matthews, he married Irene Couch, who survives.
He retired from Allison Diesel, Indianapolis. He attended the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 49, Warsaw; Moose Lodge 1179, Wabash; and Eagles Lodge 549, Wabash.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Rob Seewald officiating. Entombment with chapel cemetery services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
