BOURBON – Genevieve “Jenny” Heckaman, 88, of Bourbon, died at 2 a.m. Jan. 12, 2012, in her residence, in the care of her family and Hospice. She was born March 24, 1923, in Bourbon, to Rollie and Lydia Eaglebarger Bessinger. On March 25, 1944, she married Lloyd Heckaman, who died June 21, 1992. A lifetime resident of Bourbon, she was a graduate of Bourbon High School and was a homemaker and worked as a doctor’s assistant for many years. She was a member of Bourbon First United Methodist Church and Moose Lodge, Plymouth. Other interests include sewing, crafts and her favorite, dancing. Surviving are a daughter, Carmen Jo Heckaman Taylor, Austin, Texas; a son, Lynn (and spouse Kathryn Heckaman), West Lafayette; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Fawn Heisler, Nappanee, and Evelyn Hall, Bourbon; and a brother, Max (and spouse Jesse) Bessinger, Three Rivers, Mich. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carmen Lavon; a sister, Lovon Stackhouse; and two brothers, Wayne and Roy Bessinger. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Bourbon First United Methodist Church, 204 N. Washington St., Bourbon, with the Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon. Calling is from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the church.
