I must address the issue raised by Tom Metzger about gangs. I'm not a compatriot of Tom's, I don't like his bigotry, but his understanding of the Constitution is correct. When our elected refuse to act in our defense, or on our behalf as we desire them to do, it is our responsibility to "take matters into our own hands." The police will threaten you not to do so, but it is your constitutional duty to uphold the law.
If I am threatened by anyone desiring to restrict my rights, I will respond as the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of the State of Indiana allow. I will not distinguish class, color, creed or social status as I defend my rights. The gang mentality requires that people cower and run from them, when a citizenry refuses to do so, the gangs disappear.
Tom, by your own admission, you haven't been here. This is about the fourth round of gangs trying to establish here, maybe this time they will succeed. However, I'm willing to bet that what has happened in the past will happen again. Those individuals that moved here with the gang mentality will see that it's not necessary here and that the citizenry here won't stand for it.
It's not the esteemed members of our local law enforcement agencies that have thwarted gang activity here, their efforts in no small way diminished, they are watching. It is the people that live in this area that just won't put up with that sophomoric nonsense.
Threaten my life or someone else's life in my presence, and I'll defend myself or that other individual. I know many others that are able and willing to do so also. Tom, we aren't ignorant of what you preach, we just don't hate people based on color, creed, or station in society, as you do.
