Full-Day Kindergarten Editor, Times-Union: Attention Warsaw School Board members: I do hope that you members of the board read, are studying and contemplating the detailed report of Director of Special Services Deb Blatz concerning all-day kindergarten. We talk about the federal government with their reluctance to live within “our” means. People to whom this issue pertains: Do the math (as stated in the Tuesday, April 26, 2011, Times-Union). The statistics alone gives the logical conclusion: Full-day kindergarten is not feasible and if that isn’t enough logic, 20 percent said a full day of kindergarten is too long for a child. As a mother who raised 10 children, I can attest to that fact, which perhaps, many parents ignored. However, back to the dollars and cents. Fifty-nine percent said the potential cost of having their one child enrolled would be prohibitive. If some cannot, or will not pay, who will pick up their tab? Lila O’Connell Pierceton, via e-mail
