WINONA LAKE – Winona Lake Fire Department was dispatched to 2505 Marjorie St., Winona Lake, at about 11:49 a.m. Friday, according to WLFD Public Information Officer Mike Cox. The house is owned by David L. and Betty S. Frush.
When WLFD arrived at the scene, they found the east side of the single-family residence completely involved in fire, which was extending into the basement, the first floor and attic.
The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes, Cox said. As of 4:30 p.m., crews were still on scene for overhaul and investigation.
There were no injuries. The cause is believed to be related to a riding lawn mower that had just been filled with gasoline and parked at the rear of the house. There was extensive damage to the residence.
Assisting WLFD were Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Claypool Fire Department, Pierceton Fire Department, Burket Fire Department, Akron Fire Department, Winona Lake Police Department, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and 1-800 Boardup. NIPSCO was also on scene.
