MENTONE – Freeda Witham, 84, of 20749 S. Apple Road, Mentone, died at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 26, 2013, in her residence. She was born Nov. 27, 1928, in Plymouth, to Forrest and Goldie Teel Kesler. On Jan. 14, 1949, in Mentone, she married Rex Witham, who survives. Working at Farmers State Bank, Mentone, for 30 years, she was secretary to the president and held a vice president title. A lifetime area resident, she resided in her childhood residence until her passing. She was a 1946 graduate of Mentone High School. She was a lifetime member of Mentone Church of Christ and faithfully read her Bible. She loved sharing time with her family and also enjoyed sewing and cooking. Also surviving are a son, Gregory R. Witham, Valparaiso; three daughters: Caleen “Susie” Rentschler, Mentone; Janie (and spouse Eric) Gard, Carmel; and Sally (and spouse Jay) Hearn, St. Charles, Ill.; seven grandchildren: Natalie, Nathan, Aaron, Katie, Maggie, Rachel and Charlie; five great-grandchildren: Frank, Dustin, Darcy, Ben and Gibson; a sister, Ellen Flenar, Mentone; and special nephews, Bob Everman, Nashville, Ind., and Bill Everman, Gas City. She was preceded in death by an infant, Carol; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Witham; a sister, Eloise Everman; and a brother-in-law, Bob Flenar. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Billy Steele officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery.
