In response to Linda Torpy's letter intitled "Unbelievable:" Mrs. Torpy, in my response to Harold Kitson's "Gun Owner", I consequently informed Mr. Kitson that I was going to go off the beaten path for a moment and offer some food for thought. However, though, I thought some might find it hard to digest. In all actuality, I was paraphrasing the thoughts of a provocative 19th century American legal theorist. I repeat "the thoughts" of this individual. Mrs Torpy, are we becoming a society in which an individual needs to apologize for having a thought?
In fact, Ma'am, where did I personally say anything demeaning about the Constitution? Actually, I believe I called it a noble venture. However, I am a free thinker and I do respect the thoughts of this provocative writer and others as well. Mrs. Torpy, you seem to speak with a forked tongue, or with hypocrisy.
You speak highly of your constitution and then you ask me to apologize for expressing my First Amendment rights. Do you actually have your own constitution, hence, a constitution to fit your own dogmas and talking points?
It seems you are the one who is giving the constitution no authority.
Mrs. Torpy, I am going to go off the beaten path again, as a result you might want to sit down for this one. You remind me of a story about the first settlers who came to this country. Consequently, a kind of tale of how some came to fish and how others came to build a city on the hill, therefore for the rest of the world to imitate. Thus, those who came to fish were free thinkers who just wanted to fish. However, the puritans assumed the responsibility for coercing and controlling the people around them to conform to their ideologies. Citizen, where do you fall on this continuum?
